Grandmas are my kryptonite, so when I was walking into Centro one day from my apartment in Jalatlaco, Oaxaca, and I spotted a poor, leathery-skinned little old Abuela sitting on a rickety chair outside of a small bodega, holding a styrofoam cup in her withered brown hand, I didn’t hesitate to dig deep into my jeans’ pocket and drop some pesos in.
